Industrial RO Membrane

What is a YIME industrial RO membrane?

YIME industrial RO membrane

YIME industrial RO membranes are designed for large-scale water treatment systems. Compared with residential membranes, they can handle higher water volumes and operate stably under higher pressure. With a robust structure and advanced materials, they offer stronger fouling resistance and higher filtration efficiency, effectively removing dissolved salts, organic matter, and other impurities.

YIME membranes are available in standard sizes 4040 and 8040, ensuring compatibility with most systems for easy installation and replacement. Customization is also available to optimize membrane area, permeate flow, and salt rejection based on specific project needs.

YIME industrial membrane

Low-pressure RO membranes Series

Operable under a pressure of 150 psi, this membrane element offers a stable salt rejection rate of 99.5% and is suitable for feed water with a salinity of up to 2000 mg/L.

02

Ultra-Low Pressure RO Membrane Series

It can operate normally under ultra-low pressure conditions and is suitable for applications with a salinity of 1500 mg/L.

03

Anti-Fouling RO Membrane Series

By adopting a special process, the membrane surface charge and smoothness are modified, enhancing its hydrophilicity.

04

Seawater Desalination Membrane Series

It can be used in seawater desalination, high-salinity brackish water desalination, power plant boiler feed water treatment, as well as various industrial water treatment applications

YIME Membrane Product Structure

Membrane Structure

Spiral-Wound Membranes

Spiral-Wound Membranes are membrane sheets and spacer layers alternately wound around the central tube to form a compact cylindrical structure.

Spiral-Wound Membranes have a high membrane area density and low pressure drop, and our reverse osmosis membranes are primarily spiral-wound membranes.

Membrane Structure

Main Components of the Membrane

It is mainly composed of three parts: Membrane Surface Layer,Porous Support Layer and Base Support Layer

The spiral-wound structure consists of end caps, a central tube, membrane sheets, and mesh spacers.

Precautions for use of Industrial RO Membrane

The changing time of RO Water Membranes depends upon the above factors. If the water has a very high level of impurities, and a high TDS level, then the RO Membrane would need to be replaced quite frequently. Some factors are needed to be considered before changing the RO membrane

The hardness of the water or TDS level.

The amount of water used in purifying the water.

Level of impurities and contaminants present in the water.

The RO Membrane on average should be replaced every 2-3 years. If it is still producing good quality water then may be able to keep longer than five years. RO Membrane price is very cost-effective and can be easily changed.

If RO Membrane is never cleaned, then the lifespan of RO membrane may get reduced. If the water has a sour taste or certain odor, it is time to go for a maintenance check.

FAQ

Q: Where is reverse osmosis commonly used?

A: The most common applications of reverse osmosis include electroplating wastewater treatment, paper mills, and seawater desalination. It removes salts and other contaminants from water to obtain purified water.

Q: How many types of RO membranes are there?

A: A reverse osmosis membrane is an essential product for handling water and wastewater. There are three other types of membranes, categorized by membrane pore size, widely used for commercial purposes: Microfiltration (MF), Ultrafiltration (UF ), Nanofiltration (NF).

Q: What is the pore size of the industrial RO membrane?

A: Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membranes: RO membranes have the smallest pore size of all membrane filters, ranging from 0.0001 to 0.001 microns.

Q: What is the difference between an 8040 and a 4040 membrane?

A: From the size, it can be seen that the diameter of the 8040 reverse osmosis membrane is twice that of the 4040 membrane. Therefore, the 8040 membrane has a larger surface area, stronger filtration capacity, and a relatively large amount of water treatment.

Q: What size RO membrane do I need?

A: A common standard size for residential RO systems is the 12-inch housing with 1/8″ female threaded connections. This size is suitable for most standard residential RO membranes with dimensions ranging from 1.5-1.8 inches in diameter and 10-12 inches in length.

Q: How often should RO membrane be replaced?

A: Certain industries follow rough guidelines with most pharmaceutical applications cleaning membranes at least every year and replacing on a set interval every 2-3 years, beverage manufacturers cleaning quarterly and running to fail within 3-4 years, and municipal and seawater replacing annually.
