To ensure the long-term stable operation of your water purifier and maintain safe, high-quality drinking water, regular RO filter replacement is essential. Below are the recommended replacement intervals for different types of filters:

Filter Type Recommended Replacement Interval
PP Sediment Filter Every 3–6 months
Activated Carbon Filter Every 6–12 months
RO Membrane Filter Every 2–3 years (replacement every 2 years is recommended)

So, after purchasing and using a YIME household series RO membrane element, how should you properly replace it?

No worries!

We will guide you through the RO membrane replacement process in a comic-style illustration, providing a clear, easy-to-follow introduction that makes filter replacement simple, intuitive, and stress-free.

Preparation Before RO Filter Replacement

Before performing RO filter replacement, please make sure to complete the following preparation steps:

Turn off the inlet water ball valve of the water purifier to prevent water leakage during the replacement process.

  1. Prepare the necessary tools and confirm how your water purifier housing is opened to ensure smooth disassembly.
  2. Check that the specifications and model of the new filter are exactly the same as the original one, ensuring proper installation and performance.
  3. Clean the working surface and surrounding area to prevent dust or impurities from entering the water purification system.

Next, we will introduce the filter replacement procedure using a twist-type (rotary) filter housing as an example.

Prepare the correctly matched household RO membrane element and the special wrench for opening the filter housing.

When opening the RO membrane package, please note: do not remove or touch any protective materials other than the outer packaging bag.
At the same time, check that both ends of the RO membrane element are complete and free from damage (one end is equipped with an O-ring, while the other is not), to ensure proper sealing performance after installation.

Remove the inlet-side connection of the membrane housing, and use a membrane housing wrench to loosen and open the housing.

open the housing

Use needle-nose pliers to rotate the center tube of the old membrane to release pressure.Remove the old membrane, then install the new membrane by gently twisting it into place and pressing it firmly downward.

Release pressure                                                   Remove the membrane element

Finally, reinstall the membrane housing and reconnect the piping.Once completed, the RO membrane replacement process is finished.

After completing the RO filter replacement, do not use the water purifier immediately. Slowly open the inlet valve and check for any leaks. If leakage occurs, close the inlet and inspect the seals and installation. Once no leaks are detected, flush the system for a while to remove any protective liquid or trace impurities from the new filter.
